Sono stati annunciati i primi 60 film della 48a edizione del Toronto International Film Festival, a parte qualche titolo prodotto dagli studios, si tratta per lo più di pellicole indipendenti, per la maggior parte disponibili per l’acquisto.
Se il negoziatore di SAG-AFTRA Duncan Crabtree-Ireland darà il via libera a questi titoli indipendenti per la promozione, gli interpreti di queste pellicole potranno partecipare alle premiere al TIFF. Lo stesso dicasi per la Mostra del Cinema di Venezia. Sempre se non verrà trovato un accordo prima del Festival di Toronto, che si terrà dal 7 al 17 settembre.
Di questi 60 titoli, 39 sono disponibili per l’acquisto in Nord America o nei territori internazionali.
Segnaliamo, di questa lunga lista, Lee di Ellen Kuras, The Dead Don’t Hurt di Viggo Mortensen, Dumb Money di Craig Gillespie, Knox Goes Away di Michael Keaton, North Star di Kristin Scott Thomas, Pain Hustlers di David Yates, The Burial di Maggie Betts, Together 99 di Lukas Moodysson e Woman of the Hour di Anna Kendrick.
Assenti Priscilla di Sofia Coppola, Ferrari di Michael Mann, Saltburn di Emerald Fennell, The Bikeriders di Jeff Nichols e Maestro di Bradley Cooper.
Viste le assegnazioni delle premiere, The Beast di Bertrand Bonello, Memory di Michel Franco e Hitman di Richard Linklater verranno annunciati domani a Venezia. A Telluride invece si terranno le premiere mondiali di Nyad di Chai Vasarhelyi/Jimmy Chin, Rustin di George C. Wolfe, Fingernails di Christos Nikou e Holdovers di Alexander Payne.
In entrambi i tre festival per il momento ci sarà solo The Royal Hotel di Kitty Green.
