Everything Everywhere All at Once di A24 ha ottenuto quattordici nomination alla 28a edizione dei Critics Choice Award, tra cui miglior film, regista (Daniels), attrice (Michelle Yeoh), attore non protagonista (Ke Huy Quan) e attrice non protagonista (Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu).
Segue con undici da The Fabelmans di Steven Spielberg (lui solo ne ha ottenute tre come regista, produttore e co-sceneggiatore) e cinque per i suoi interpreti. Nove sia per Babylon (tra cui miglior film, regia e attrice Margot Robbie) che per Gli spiriti dell’isola, di cui cinque per i suoi interpreti.
Sette sia per Elvis (tra cui attore Austin Butler e regista Baz Luhrmann) che Tar (tra cui attrice Cate Blanchett). Con sei troviamo Avatar: La via dell’acqua (tra cui film e regista James Cameron), Glass Onion – Knives Out, Top Gun: Maverick (film, e attore Tom Cruise) e Women Talking (regia e sceneggiatura per Sarah Polley).
Con cinque l’indiano RRR (tra cui film, il regista e film straniero). Empire Of Light di Searchlight solo la candidatura per la fotografia.
La Critics Choice Association (CCA), composta da 600 membri, ha deciso quest’anno di aumentare il numero di candidati alla regia, e nella lista troviamo anche una seconda donna Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King). Inoltre le nomination per il miglior film quest’anno sono undici, per via di un pareggio per l’ultimo slot.
Infine Jeff Bridges riceverà nel corso della cerimonia il Critics Choice Lifetime Achievement Award.
