Cinema Trailer & Video Festival Oscar & Premi
Con la nomina di Tabitha Jackson come nuovo direttore, sabato sera a Basin Fieldhouse (Park City) si è conclusa l’edizione 2020 del Sundance Film Festival.
Grande vincitore di questa edizione è Minari di Lee Isaac Chung a cui è stato consegnato sia il Premio del Pubblico che il Premio della Giuria nella categoria U.S. Dramatic.
Si tratta di una pellicola semi-autografica ispirata alla vita del regista, che racconta di una famiglia Coreana-americana che si trasferisce da Los Angeles all’Arkansas per inseguire il sogno americano.
Recentemente solo Birth of a Nation nel 2017 e Me and Earl and the Dying Girl nel 2015, hanno ricevuto questo doppio onore.
Radha Blank ha vinto per la regia di The 40-Year-Old Version.
La giuria U.S. dramatic ha consegnato quattro premi speciali a:
-il cast corale di Charm City Kings, per i suoi pericolosi stunt sulle strade di Baltimora;
–Eliza Hittman regista di Never Rarely Sometimes Always, per il suo neorealismo;
–Josephine Decker con l’auteur award per Shirley, incentrato su Shirley Jackson.
–Edson Oda ha ricevuto il Waldo Salt per la sceneggiatura di Nine Days.
The Reason I Jump di Jerry Rothwell ha ricevuto il World Cinema Documentary Audience Award mentre il documentario Crip Camp di Netflix, prodotto da Barack e Michelle Obama, ha vinto il premio del Pubblico nella categoria U.S. Documentary.
Identifying Features (Sin Senas Particulares), di Fernanda Valadez, ha vinto il premio del pubblico nella sezione World Cinema Dramatic mentre mentre Valadez e Astrid Rondero hanno ricevuto una menzione per la sceneggiatura.
Ben Whishaw ha vinto una menzione speciale per la sua recitazione in Surge, I Carry You With Me di Heidi Ewing ha vinto nella sezione NEXT sia il premio del pubblico che l’Innovator.
