Birds of Prey – Le prime reazioni elogiano il film con Margot Robbie

Dopo l’anteprima mondiale di Birds of Prey a Londra, su twitter sono arrivate le prime reazioni della stampa, che elogiano decisamente il cinecomic Warner / DC.
Molti giornalisti sottolineano l’approccio bizzarro, lo stile stravagante, l’azione e le performance del cast, guidato da Margot Robbie nel ruolo di Harley Quinn. È curioso che ci siano opinioni contrastanti circa la natura del film: un critico precisa che si tratta in tutto e per tutto di un’avventura delle Birds of Prey, mentre un altro ritiene invece che Harley Quinn abbia una centralità assoluta, e questo determina alcuni problemi. È un’eccezione, però, dato che tutti gli altri hanno solo parole di miele per questo cinecomic.

La sinossi
Avete mai sentito quella della poliziotta, dell’usignolo, della psicopatica e della principessa della mafia? Birds of Prey e la fantasmagorica rinascita di Harley Quinn è una storia contorta narrata dalla stessa Harley, come solo Harley può raccontarla. Quando il criminale più perfidamente narcisista di Gotham, Roman Sionis, e il suo zelante braccio destro, Zsasz, prendono di mira una ragazzina chiamata Cass, la città viene messa a soqquadro per cercarla. I cammini di Harley, Cacciatrice, Black Canary e Renee Montoya si incrociano, e l’improbabile quartetto non ha altra scelta se non unire le forze per sconfiggere Roman.
La regista e il cast
Alla regia c’è Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs), mentre la sceneggiatura è stata scritta da Christina Hodson (Bumblebee e il prossimo Batgirl).
Il cast è composto da Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Cacciatrice), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cain), Ewan McGregor (Maschera Nera), Chris Messina (Victor Zsasz), Ali Wong, Michael Masini e Charlene Amoia (Maria Bertinelli).

Ispirazione e antagonista
Margot Robbie è anche produttrice esecutiva del film insieme a Sue Kroll e Bryan Unkeless. Il soggetto è ispirato al gruppo di supereroine e supercriminali creato da Jordan B. Gorfinkel, Chuck Dixon e Gary Frank.
L’antagonista è Maschera Nera, personaggio ideato nel 1985 da Doug Moench e Tom Mandrake su Batman n° 386, grande nemico dell’Uomo Pipistrello.
