Bette Midler canterà agli Oscar la canzone ‘The Place Where Lost Things Go‘, interpretata da Emily Blunt in Il ritorno di Mary Poppins. Composta da Marc Shaiman e dal paroliere Scott Wittman, è uno dei cinque brani che concorreranno nella categoria per la miglior canzone.
A fine gennaio l’Accademy aveva annunciato che un’ospite speciale l’avrebbe cantata:

Inizialmente l’Academy aveva deciso di far cantare solo 2 delle 5 canzoni nominate: “Shallow” di A Star Is Born e “All the Stars” di Black Panther. La decisione è stata accolta con diverse polemiche e l’Academy ha fatto dietro front.
