Anche l’Art Directors Guild (ADG) ha annunciato le nomination per il miglior Production Design cinematografico (diviso in tre categorie: costume, fantasy e contemporaneo) e televisivo.
Tra i film in costume troviamo: Bohemian Rhapsody, Roma, La ballata di Buster Scruggs, La favorita e First Man. Nella categoria fantasy: Black Panther, Animali fantastici: I crimini di Grindelwald, Il mistero della casa del tempo, Il ritorno di Mary Poppins e Ready Player One. Mentre in quella contemporanea A Quiet Place, A Star is Born, Crazy & Rich, Mission: Impossible – Fallout e Benvenuti a Marwen.
Ricordiamo che negli ultimi cinque anni, il vincitore della categoria dei film in costume ha vinto l’Oscar tre volte: 2014 Il grande Gatsby, 2015 The Grand Budapest Hotel, 2018 La forma dell’acqua. Il vincitore della categoria fantasy ha vinto nel 2016 con Mad Max: Fury Road, mentre nel 2017 è stato confermato il vincitore della categoria contemporanea: La La Land.
Nella categoria per i film animati troviamo: Il Grinch, Gli Incredibili 2, L’isola dei cani, Ralph spacca Internet e Spider-Man: Un nuovo universo.
