Lars Von Trier ha fatto il suo ritorno sulla Croisette, dopo lo scandalo avvenuto nell’ormai lontano 2011, quando la sua frase “I Understand Hitler” raggelò Cannes. È tornato al Festival e, forse per prendersi la sua vendetta, ha letteralmente traumatizzato il pubblico presente in sala durante la proiezione della sua ultima fatica, The House That Jack Built (QUI trovate la nostra recensione).
La storia del serial killer interpretato da Matt Dillon si preannuncia particolarmente sconvolgente, come testimoniano i primi commenti comparsi su twitter. A causa della sua violenza, il film è stato definito:
– Disgustoso
– Vile
– Pretenzioso
– Patetico
– Nauseante
Cosa ha causato una simile reazione? Perché centinaia di persone hanno abbandonato la sala durante la proiezione? A quanto pare il (de)merito è della carica eccessiva che contraddistingue il film, che contiene scene di tortura particolarmente estreme, che coinvolgono donne e bambini. Come ha detto qualcuno:

Nel cast di The House That Jack Built troviamo Matt Dillon (Wayward Pines) e Uma Thurman, che aveva già collaborato con il regista in Nymphomaniac. Con loro anche Bruno Ganz (La Caduta), Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience, Mad Max: Fury Road), Siobhan Fallon Hogan (Dancer in the Dark, Dogville) e Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing).
Il film, ambientato negli anni ’70, racconterà la storia di Jack, un serial killer particolarmente intelligente. Osserveremo il mondo attraverso il suo punto di vista (per lui ogni omicidio rappresenta un’opera d’arte) e ascolteremo le suo confessioni fatte ad uno sconosciuto di nome Verge. La polizia è sulle sue tracce e lui sta correndo rischi sempre maggiori nel tentativo di compiere la sua opera d’arte finale.
