Pacific Rim: Uprising – Esplosioni e stunt nei video dal set

GUARDA ANCHE: Prima immagine dei nuovi Jaeger in Pacific Rim: Uprising

Le riprese di Pacific Rim: Uprising sono in corso, e dai set australiani giungono alcuni video piuttosto suggestivi.

Non sappiamo nulla della trama, ma possiamo tranquillamente immaginare che l’azione si svolgerà su vasta scala, e in modalità diverse. In questo caso, ad esempio, vediamo alcuni soldati (o poliziotti) in tenute futuristiche mentre sparano a un misterioso nemico, ma vengono sbalzati via da quella che sembrerebbe essere l’onda d’urto di un’esplosione; gli stunt sono ovviamente legati a dei cavi. Ci sono anche un paio di foto: la prima ritrae Scott Eastwood con l’uniforme da pilota di Jaeger, la seconda mostra un blindato fantascientifico.

First look at vehicle props from #PacificRim2! Today we have your first look at some of the vehicle props which will be used in #PacificRimUprising / Pacific Rim 2! Snapped by a local Sydney based photographer, the following set photos show us a very heavily armored vehicle, with the PPDC (Pan Pacific Defense Corps) logo plastered on the rear panel. This particular vehicle we assume is utilized by PPDC ground forces, which against a massive Kaiju would render somewhat useless. However, in Pacific Rim, we learned the Kaiju were in a sense cloned, organic Jaeger type mechs themselves, to the Alien race which created them. It is possible that Pacific Rim: Uprising will introduce us to a war against both Kaiju and their Alien race, as they launch a large scale invasion of Earth! This would account for the need to have smaller, more nimble ground troops in addition to #Jaegers, since the hostile aliens controlling the Kaiju are relatively Human-sized themselves. In addition to the militant type vehicle above, another host of set photos show off a futuristic civilian vehicle, as well as what looks to be a Kaiju shelter or warning station. La prima versione della sceneggiatura di Pacific Rim: Uprising è opera di Jon Spaiths (Prometheus, Passengers, Doctor Strange), è stata riscritta da Derek Connolly (Safety Not Guaranteed, Jurassic World). Guillermo Del Toro resta coinvolto in veste di produttore, ma la sua agenda è – come al solito – molto piena, e probabilmente ha voluto lasciare la regia a Stephen S. DeKnight (showrunner della prima stagione di Daredevil e creatore di Spartacus) per dedicarsi all’adattamento di Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (senza dimenticare altri suoi progetti come Silver e il remake di Viaggio allucinante).

John Boyega interpreterà il figlio di Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba), mentre Cailee Spaeny sarà la protagonista femminile; nel cast anche Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Levi Meaden, Adria Arjona e Zhang Jin. Non tornerà Charlie Hunnam, ma ci sarà Rinko Kikuchi.

L’uscita americana è attesa per il 23 febbraio 2018.
