Stavolta si può parlare di “sentenza storica” senza incappare nella mera retorica giornalistica: la Corte Suprema americana ha stabilito che il matrimonio è un diritto costituzionale anche per le coppie omosessuali, con cinque voti favorevoli e quattro contrari. Di conseguenza, tutti i 50 stati degli U.S.A saranno costretti a garantire tale diritto, e dovranno inoltre riconoscere le nozze omosessuali celebrate in altre parti della nazione. Finalmente, anche le coppie LGBT potranno regolamentare il loro rapporto.
La notizia è stata accolta con gioia, e ovviamente le celebrità del cinema, della televisione e della musica non hanno mancato di comunicare la propria felicità su twitter. “Love won” ha scritto Ellen DeGeneres, mentre il grande Ian McKellen festeggia con Derek Jacobi, che gli chiede:
