Questa sera nel Teatro Nuovo “Giovanni da Udine” verrà inaugurata la 17ma edizione del Far East Film Festival con uno speciale concerto di gala tenuto da uno dei più importanti musicisti del panorma asiatico e mondiale Joe Hisaishi, qui alla sua prima esibizione italiana. Il musicista di Nagano ha lavorato come compositore di molti film dello Studio Ghibli, nove dei quali diretti da Hayao Miyazaki (tra cui Nausicaä della Valle del vento, Il mio vicino Totoro, Porco Rosso, La Principessa Mononoke, La città incantata, Ponyo sulla scogliera e Si alza il vento) ma anche quella dell’ultimo film di Isao Takahata, La storia della principessa splendente.
Ha anche scritto l’indimenticabile colonna sonora del film premio Oscar Departures di Takita Yojiro e le musiche di ben sette film di Takeshi Kitano tra cui Sonatine, L’estate di Kikujiro e Dolls giusto per citarne qualcuno. Nel 200o ha diretto un orchestra di 1200 elementi per l’evento Joe Hisaishi in Budokan – 25 years with the Animations of Miyazaki Hayao e questa sera verrà premiato con il Gelso d’Oro alla carriera.

Da domani fino al 2 maggio verranno proiettati film provenienti dalla Cina, Hong Kong, Taiwan, il Giappone, la Corea del Sud, la Cambodia, il Vietnam, la Thailandia, le Filippine e L’Indonesia. Alla sezione ufficiale si aggiungono quelle dei: documentari, la Hk Martial Arts Special Focus, i classici restaurati, Fresh Wave Shorts e Sitges Reloaded.
Il super ospite del festival è Jackie Chan (Rush Hour) che presenterà Dragon Blade un colossal storico diretto da Daniel Lee e interpretato da John Cusack e Adrien Brody. Nella sezione dedicata ai film sulle arti marziali sarà possibile vedere un altro suo film, la pellicola cult The Young Master.
Del nutrito programma del Festival segnaliamo: Kung Fu Jungle di Teddy Chen, The Taking of Tiger Mountain di Tsui Hark, Sara di Herman Yau, il premiatissimo 100 Yen Love di Take Masaharu interpretato da Sakura Ando, il film in due parti Parasyte di Yamazaki Takashi e The Last Executioner di Tom Waller.
