Se nella scorsa edizione erano stati Vita di Pi e il cartoon Ribelle a vincere il prestigioso riconoscimento, vediamo ora chi sono i “duellanti” per questa XII edizione dei VES Awards, ossia i premi di categoria della Visual Effects Society, dove gli addetti ai lavori nel campo degli effetti speciali premiano i migliori film dell’anno del settore. 24 le categorie per le candidature che premiano i film live-action, l’animazione alla televisione passando anche per gli spot commerciali e i video games.
Il titolo che in assoluto ha raccolto più candidature è Gravity di Alfonso Cuaron (8 nomination) seguito da Lo Hobbit: la Desolazione di Smaug e Iron Man 3 (5 nomination ciascuno). Per l’animazione si distinguono Frozen, I Croods ed Epic con 4 nomination a testa mentre per il settore televisivo la parte da leone la fa Game of Thrones. Segnaliamo infine l’apparentemente bizzarra candidatura di Sandra Bullock per Gravity nella categoria Miglior personaggio animato in un film in live action.
