Alien: Engineers – Ecco il primo script di Prometheus scritto da John Spaihts
Dopo aver letto alcune delle idee di Jon Spaihts presenti nella versione iniziale di Prometheus, antecedente all’entrata a bordo di Damon Lindelof, devo ammettere di essere stata curiosa di leggere questa versione della sceneggiatura, per capire se l’apporto di Damon Lindelof abbia davvero portato dei miglioramenti alla storia.
La scorsa settimana è comparso su Scribd, uno script intitolato Alien: Engineers scritto da Spaihts, che potete scaricare qui. I dubbi riguardanti la sua genuinità sono stati sfatati dallo stesso sceneggiatore, che ha confermato su Twitter l’autenticità dello script, sprovvisto delle modifiche apportate da Lindelof.

Mettendo a confronto le due versioni, notiamo che la struttura dei due film è grosso modo la stessa, anche se, come suggerisce il nome stesso della versione di Spaihts, la sua versione è un vero e proprio prequel di Alien.
David non ha problemi a infettare Jocelyn Watts aka Elizabeth Shaw con un facehugger, dando vita ad una simile sequenza in cui si vede la protagonista che tenta di togliere dal suo corpo l’alieno. Inoltre è presente una scena con un chestburster, mentre Holloway sta avendo un rapporto sessuale con Watts/Shaw. Se ricordate in Prometheus è proprio in questa scena che il personaggio di Noomi Rapace viene infettato.
BEDROOM
Holloway tumbles Watts onto the bed. Pulls her shirt off. They struggle out of their clothes, clinging to one another. Holloway’s ill at ease: something’s wrong inside him, he feels it. He dives into Watts as if for refuge. They make love. Sitting atop Holloway, Watts lays a hand on his chest.
WATTS: Your heart’s beating so hard.
HOLLOWAY: That’s your fault.
Vulnerability in his voice. Fear under the surface. He rolls on top of her. Drives her into the mattress. She holds him protectively: not deceived by his bravado.
Suddenly Holloway tenses, muscles rigid. Shuddering. Watts draws breath through her teeth with a hiss. Eyes open. Her fingers rake his back. He SCREAMS. Horribly. Eyes bulging. Tendons standing out of his throat. Watts jumps violently underneath him.
WATTS: Martin! Martin!
He begins to convulse. She rolls him onto the bed beside her, trying to contain his spasms. His teeth grind.
WATTS (CONT’D): Martin!
A horrible CRACK. In the middle of Holloway’s chest, beneath the sternum, a grotesque head pushes out through the skin. A PARASITE. Blood fountains from the ruinous wound. Holloway goes into a massive seizure. Violently lashing out. Watts stares at the parasite fighting its way out of his body. It is white and boneless. Glistening. It flails its hideous lunging jaw. Watts screams and screams.The parasite frees itself from its savage womb and turns on Watts. She slaps at it blindly. It HISSES at her. She squirms away across the floor, tangled in the bloody sheet. The thing comes after her.
Non potendo leggere l’intero script, per pubblicare velocemente la news, dando una veloce occhiata sembra che in questa versione siano presenti alcuni problemi già comparsi in Prometheus. Inoltre mancano alcune delle scene più belle del film. Un opinione comune che si sta diffondendo in rete, e che probabilmente, con un altra versione dello script, Lindelof sarebbe riuscito ad appianare le divergenze tra le due versioni, e a sistemare i buchi nella sceneggiatura.
