Il pubblico che ha assistito al cinema AMC Lincoln Square la proiezione di una versione ancora work-in-progress di Oldboy, il remake diretto da Spike Lee, ha accolto la pellicola con agitazione, per via della violenza molto grafica presente nel film, ma è stato il colpo di scena finale a provocare un udibile disagio in sala. E chi ha visto il film originale coreano, non può che essere contento di queste reazioni.
La protagonista femminile, Elizabeth Olsen ha ammesso:
“Non sono mai stata più scioccata e sorpresa da un finale, forse dai tempi di Il sesto senso. Nessuno mi aveva fatto degli spoiler. Nessuno mi ha fatto qualche accenno. E ho avuto modo di viverlo con solo una tela bianca”.
Su Twitter sono comparse alcune reazioni, tutte positive, dove in alcuni casi si parla di un miglioramento della versione coreana e di una possibile nomination per Josh Brolin.
